Although independently conceived by Ben Train, the following method for Triumph was originally published by Syd Segal inFull Metal Jacket2005, under the name "Very Fair Triumph."
It looks so good you’ll think it was a trick deck.
Triumph is one of the strongest effects you can perform with a deck of cards. It’s a classic of magic, a metaphor for man’s desire to bring order to chaos, and it’s a wicked trick that will convince everyone you show it to that you can do ANYTHING with a deck of cards.
A card is thought of and the pack is shuffled face-up into face-down.It’s a genuine shuffle.Without any false moves or suspicious sleight of hand you cause the entire deck to straighten out, except for the selected card.
Remember:
You really shuffle the cards.
There are no displacements or strip-outs.
It’s impromptu and you can do it with a borrowed deck.
It’s as close to real magic as you can get without selling your soul.
