Way Out Of This World by Dick Zimmerman

I personally will stick with Paul Curry’s version over Mr. Zimmerman’s version.  There are other versions including Harry Loryane’s Out of this Universe that I might use, but the problem I have with this version is the move occurs as the two packets are placed together after the spectator has dealt them – well talk about the worst time to do a move that is when the spectator’s are looking most closely. I first read about Out of This World in Paul Clive’s excellent book Card Tricks Without Skill and it has served me very well over decades, without the need for any tricky moves at the worst time.

Here is the ad copy for Dick Zimmerman’s version:

Effect: As a kid I remember reading the ad for Paul Curry’s classic “Out of This World” but being disappointed that the effect was not as direct as the ad implied. It didn’t tell me that 1 had to use ‘guide cards,’ to switch them half-way through and secretly cut a packet I wanted to give a spectator the face-down deck, let him divide it into two piles and then turn them over to reveal the red and black cards all separated.

Eventually, I came up with my own method which allowed me to do Just this. I did it occasionally for other magicians but never revealed the secret – until now. Believe It or not, YOU can hand a spectator a regular deck of cards, requesting that he deals the cards face down into two piles, putting the cards he thinks are red in one pile and those he thinks are black in the other. No ‘guide cards.’ No stopping. No conditions.

After all the cards have been dealt, you place the two piles together, saying that if he had really separated the colors, all the red cards should now be together, and all the black cards should also be together. You now slowly ribbon-spread the cards on the table revealing 26 red cards followed by 26 black cards.

Almost self-working. One easy move required which is clearly explained in photo instructions.
