The beauty of this book test is that NO OTHER PROPS ARE USED. Yes, its true. All you need is the regular paperback book that you want to use. You don't write anything down, the spectators don't write anything down. You hand them the book, they verbally pick a page and line (no dice, cards, pencils, pens, paper, nothing), and after they read that line you read there mind.
Andrews actually tells you in the manuscript not to take out any props while you perform this, or the directness of the effect might be ruined.
Oh, the spectators can examine the book all they want because its just an ordinary book. You just have to go to the bookstore and take your pick. As you can see, the book itself during performance has nothing to do with how you obtain the information. You can perform it blindfolded if you want (but I don't know why you would). I hope I have given you enough information.
I'd like to thank Mr. Rowland for putting a reference to this effect on his website. He could have chosen to keep it all to himself, but thanks to him I now have what I believe to be one of the best mentalism effects I will ever perform. And it was only 10 bucks!
