Smudgification by Craig Petty
Smudgification is an exceptionally commercial close-up magic routine where a signed card's signature is magically manipulated. Initially, the spectator signs the card's face, but the magician wipes it off, explaining they need to sign the back instead. This leads into an Ambitious Card routine where the signed card repeatedly rises to the top of the deck. The trick climaxes with the magician visually transferring the signature back onto the card's face in a flash of fire, creating a card signed on both sides, which the spectator can keep. Smudgification combines visual appeal with a strong, memorable souvenir, making it a must-learn for close-up magicians.
