Table of Contents
1) Seca Alabbak: This is Paul's very puzzling - very magical - no palm (to wallet) one-ahead signed card to wallet trick; using four cards! Confused? I hope not. It is very visual, very magical. You'll all be reaching for your long-forgotten LePaul wallets... 2) Hofzinser on His Feet: Using four Jumbo cards, a strong Hofzinser-style reversal trick in their (the spectator's) hands! 3) Elevate The Tree: Paul's handling, with surprise kicker, of Marlo's Elevator trick wherein the cards (in a packet) keep rising to the top. 4) The Gypsy Curse Plus: If you know The Gypsy Curse (Peter Kane), here is a surprise kicker ending plus an easier (shorter) way of doing the original too. 5) Phantom Of The Wallet: Paul's one-ahead card to Himber wallet routine, as once marketed by Martin Breese. 6) Paul's IMB Lecture Notes: No effect, just a lot of tips, hints etc., etc. 7) Overload: Once marketed by Paul, this mind-reading mentalists trick is strong. Very puzzling. 8) Charlie The Mind-Reading Chicken: This old Simon Lovell (possibly older than him) trick now has a magical content, aside from the side-splitting laughs! 9) Easy Card to Cardcase: This is a lovely (easy) card to cardcase effect. It fools those in the know. Very strong magic. 10) Basically Quite Good: Paul has fooled the very best with this 'card transposition' effect. Two cards are signed and openly placed on the table. One changes place with the other; but the other one ends up elsewhere!
About the Author
Paul's career in the entertainment industry (in professional theatre management) commenced in 1980. In the late 90's, Paul furthered his other business, which was founded in 1993, (Natzler Enterprises) and also became a professional (full-time) magician. Paul's love of magic commenced in 1968 when his uncle Reginald made a coin vanish. This hobby lay dormant until 1976 when Paul joined The Sussex Magic Circle. (Paul was its president in 2001.) It was at this time (1977) that Paul fell in love with card magic, thanks to Harry Lorayne and The Magic Book. Two years later, in 1979, Paul 'discovered' Close-up Card Magic by Mr. Lorayne. In 1979, Paul started contributing his own tricks to Goodliffe's Abracadabra and Abracassetta. Over the years, Paul has had material published in Stan Allen's MAGIC, Richard Kaufman's Genii, Harry Lorayne's Apocalypse, David Jones's The Conjuror, Onyx, The Magic Circular, The Budget, Al Smith's Abacus (& LaBal) and others. In 1993, Paul started publishing (via Natzler Enterprises) his own booklets; the most popular (at the time) being The Card Magic of Paul Gordon. This was a spiral-bound effort which eventually sold an amazing - for an esoteric lightweight production - 500 copies. Spurred on by this, Paul eventually (in 1996) produced a hardback book; Nocturnal Creations. To this date, this amazing book has sold over 3000 copies. That, in magic parlance, is a runaway best-seller! Protean Card Magic, Cause And Effect, Professional Card Magic Miracles, Card Magic Companion, Edward G. Brown; A Magical Life & Percy Naldrett - A Man of Sussex; Conjurer & Poet followed. As of 2005, about 11000 books have been sold in 12 different countries. Critically, Paul Gordon's books, videos & tricks have received great reviews and comments from magazines and magicians such as; Harry Lorayne, Howard Schwarzman, Aldo Colombini, Al Smith, Roger Crosthwaite, Jamy Ian Swiss, The Linking Ring, David Goodsell, The Magic Circular, Goodliffe, The Budget, Stephen Tucker, Onyx, Mike Maxwell, Magic, Mike Close, M-U-M Magazine, Phil Willmarth, Genii, Roberto Giobbi and more... Paul's books are also available from Barnes & Noble, Amazon, WHSmith, Waterstones & most bookstores. Each title is ISBN registered and logged with Whitaker (Neilson), BookData and Pub Easy. Paul's major influences in magic are Hofzinser, Erdnase, Hugard & Braue, Bill Simon, Paul LePaul, Dai Vernon, Harry Lorayne, Ed Marlo, Al Leach, Roy Walton & Roger Crosthwaite. Aside from the books (including Card Magic Companion, Nocturnal Creations, Cause And Effect, Protean Card Magic & Professional Card Magic Miracles), Paul has produced a few marketed tricks (The Millennium Bug, Dazzler, Twin Peeks, The Gordon Diary Trick, The NEW Magician's Insurance Policy, YKM!, Overload, The Apex, Muldoon Match, Hofzinser's Carte Blanche etc., etc) and three very popular videos; Powerful Impromptu Card Magic Volumes 1 & 2 and - The Magic Circle Lecture. 2004 saw the release of Paul's first DVD - two different lectures on one disc. In 1994, Paul joined The Magic Circle and (on account of his books) was promoted (in 1997) to The Inner Magic Circle; associate class with Silver Star. Since the early 1990's, Paul has lectured all over the world (including Tannen's 1997 Jubillee) and has thrilled magicians along the way. In fact, since 1995, Paul has lectured for over 50 clubs in the UK alone! Paul was honoured to be asked to be the very first close-up lecturer to lecture at The Magic Circle's new (at the time) headquarters in Stephenson Way, London. An honour, indeed! He returned, by popular demand, in 2003; this time - the lecture was professionally videoed. In the late seventies & early eighties Paul was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. After many years (lapsed membership), he once more a member. As a professional close-up magician, Paul works all over the world (mostly with cards), once again - thrilling laymen on the way.
