Mike Breggar – TMF Lecture Live (11-02-2023)

As many of you know, Michael Breggar has been a denizen of the TMF since almost its inception. He is an accomplished magician, writer, magic creator, and personal friends with the ghost of S. W. Ordfish. He has authored six highly successful magic books and has been the author of the “Auto-Magic” column in The Linking Ring since 2015.

Michael will lecture on “Card Tricks That Don’t Play Like Card Tricks.” Cards may be the props or the “link” to the magic, but the presentations will strike the audience as something bigger.

Here's Michael:

I will start with a few items that I've performed as part of my Magic Castle sets. We will then move to a session on “Think-a-Card” effects which play as mentalism effects — not as “mere card tricks. And then we will wrap up with a couple ACAAN effects (which are card tricks, but damn good ones!)

Along the way, I will discuss my development process and share some new ideas I've been playing around with. I will also provide some detail about working/designing in a “three act structure” format and the value of “psychological distancing.”
