"Devin first released 'OuttaSight' which was really good. Now, he has released "Knockout Tossed Out" which is as good, if not better than OuttaSight. Any student of the tossed-out deck can learn a lot from Devin's version. It's not just the method behind it but the psychology as well that makes this one really special and fun to perform. I enjoy it, fooling laypeople and magicians alike, and so will those who use it." - Robert Marsi
The Knockout Tossed Out is the latest craze in tossed out decks and now you can make it using decks available from the dollar stores. Due to many requests, Devin Knight is now revealing the secret of how to make this deck and the full presentation in a PDF.
The performer removes a deck of cards from a card case and fans the cards showing a mixed deck. He then removes the two jokers and puts a rubber band around the middle of the deck. The performer lifts a portion the deck to illustrate how audience members are to peek at cards while the rubber band is around the deck.
The deck is then tossed to FIVE different people, without any secret switches. Five people peek at a card anywhere in the deck. After peeking at a card, the person remains standing.
Important Note: One worry with the old tossed out deck is that if a participant accidentally let an extra card or two slip off his thumb, the method would be exposed. The Knockout Deck eliminates that. If a person lets a few cards riffle off his thumb either accidentally or purposely, the method will not be exposed!
The performer asks the five people to think of their cards. He then invites the audience to think of random cards to attempt to confuse him. The performer claims he will READ only the thoughts of the five people standing, despite being bombarded with thoughts from the audience.
The performer says that he thinks that TWO of the standing volunteers have somehow peeked at the same card, an amazing coincidence.
HERE IS WHERE THE ROUTINE IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER VERSIONS. The performer says he will call out the names of cards that he is getting the impression of. He tells the participants, when I call out your card SIT DOWN. This is different from the old method, where you call out all the cards first, then say, "If you heard your card please sit down."
With the knockout deck routine, you tell them BEFOREHAND, when you hear your card sit down!
There are several ways to end the routine and two are shown here.
#1 As the performer starts calling cards, the participants start sitting. TWO sit at the same time, just as the performer predicted. Two are thinking of the same card! Finally, there is only ONE PERSON left standing. The performer says to him, "Think of your card, your card is the Ten Of Diamonds and he too sits down."
#2 As the performer starts calling cards, the participants sit. Two participants are left standing. The performer says, "As I said earlier, I thought two of you were thinking of the same card. I believe you both looked at the Two of Diamonds." They agree and sit down.
The Knockout Tossed Out Deck helps eliminates worries about after show talk. Although not normally a problem, if spectators compare notes after the show, they will find that two of them did think of the same card and the other cards were different. People seldom talk that way, but if they did, the Knockout Deck helps eliminate the exposure that could happen if you were using the standard HOY Deck. This is fully explained in the directions.
Easily made up in a few minutes with decks you can buy from a dollar store. No special tools or supplies are needed.
2nd edition 2014, 11 pages.
word count: 3474 which is equivalent to 13 standard pages of text
