DESCRIPTION
In this publication, we are pleased to bring you a smashing and hilarious routine by Sam Berland. Here's the effect. A wrist watch is borrowed; which the performer places to his ear. He notes that the ticking seems to be weak and the watch may need winding. After the performer apparently "over winds" the watch; a loud clicking noise is heard followed by a buzzing sound as if the spring has completely unwound. The performer reassures the nervous owner that he can fix it. He takes out a small oil can and "lubricates" the watch and then, listens to it again. Happily, the performer says the watch seems to be working now and all that remains, is the "shock resistance" test! The performer inserts the watch into an envelope and places it on the table. Next, he brings out a hammer and hits the watch with a light blow. A peculiar pop is heard. The watch is removed from the envelope and a gear falls from it. The performer forces a smile, as he pushes the gear back into the watch; before returning it to its owner. This one will leave your audience in stitches. Easy to do.
